The Democracy Education Network (DEN) was founded in 1993 to help Canadians learn key democracy, civics and active citizenship skills, and to undertake research and public education initiatives about best-practice democratic good government and corporate responsibility processes.
Many studies by governments and non-governmental organizations have found that there is a great need for democracy education in Canada, and that the decision-making processes used by Canadian governments and legislatures, and by big businesses, do not comply with best-practice good governance international standards.
